Why it matters

  • 01Jun ware's historic kiln town, with family workshops still firing
  • 02The old street is residential, not a rebuilt set
  • 03Cups and small vessels make light, packable souvenirs

“Buy a cup from the person who glazed it. Prices are on the shelf and nobody pushes.”

The guide

Walk the lane

The main street is short: kilns, shops and courtyards in one line. Ask before entering a workshop; most owners will show you the wheel.

Buying

Jun glazes shift colour in the kiln, so no two pieces match. Prices are per piece and clearly marked; small cups start around ¥60.

Practical notes

  • Cash helps in the smallest workshops
  • One hour by car from Xuchang East station
  • All day; workshops 09:00–17:30
