Getting there

Roads climb steeply from Huixian. Coaches stop at the tunnel mouth; the village is a short walk beyond. Private cars are restricted at peak times.

Stay a night

Guesthouses are simple and inexpensive. Staying overnight means empty lanes at sunrise, which is when the place is at its best.

Practical notes

  • Narrow roads; motion sickness tablets help on the climb
  • Cash for small guesthouses, though mobile payment is common
